Gearbox Bearings

Industrial gearbox bearings are critical components in gear transmission systems. Their performance directly influences the load capacity, transmission efficiency, durability, and overall reliability of the gearbox. FLT is dedicated to supplying gearbox bearings that deliver high reliability, long service life, exceptional efficiency, and strong load-bearing capacity.

Gearbox Bearings

Types

FLT offers a wide range of gearbox bearing types, including but not limited to:

  • Deep groove ball bearings
  • Short cylindrical roller bearings
  • Tapered roller bearings
  • Spherical roller bearings
  • Needle roller bearings

Details

Gearbox operating environments are often harsh and complex. Many gearboxes lack advanced filtration systems, leading to high contamination levels in the lubricating oil—posing significant challenges for bearing reliability.

FLT has extensive experience in gearbox bearing applications and supplies world-class gearbox manufacturers such as Bonfiglioli and Carraro. All supplied products meet or exceed customer expectations in terms of performance and durability.

We leverage powerful simulation and analysis capabilities during the design phase, including:

  • Load and stiffness simulation of internal gearbox bearings
  • Preload data and lubrication flow analysis
  • Fatigue life verification and stress modeling

When verification results indicate insufficient bearing life under given conditions, FLT applies proprietary heat treatment techniques to enhance fatigue resistance and reliability.

Our bearings are manufactured using high-grade bearing steel and advanced heat treatment and grinding processes, achieving internationally competitive performance. Tapered roller bearings and full complement cylindrical roller bearings are especially notable for their low friction torque, high rotational speed, large load capacity, and long service life.

Features

  • Deep Groove Ball Bearings: these bearings have a simple structure, low friction torque, minimal energy consumption, and support high rotational speeds. They can withstand both radial and axial loads and are commonly used as locating bearings in gearboxes.

  • Short Cylindrical Roller Bearings: with high radial load capacity and rotational speed, these bearings allow for limited axial displacement to compensate for thermal expansion of the shaft. Full complement designs further enhance radial load capability and are especially favored in planetary gear systems.

  • Tapered Roller Bearings: tapered roller bearings excel at handling large combined radial and axial loads. When preloaded appropriately, they provide superior rigidity and significantly extended service life.

  • Spherical Roller Bearings: these bearings accommodate heavy radial and axial loads while allowing angular misalignment during assembly. Their self-aligning feature makes them suitable for shafts that may deflect or misalign under load.

  • Needle Roller Bearings: compact and lightweight, needle roller bearings offer high radial load capacity and are well-suited for applications where space is limited but performance cannot be compromised.

Applications

FLT gearbox bearings are widely used in the following systems and industries:

  • Industrial Gearboxes: For general machinery and automation equipment
  • Wind Turbine Pitch and Yaw Drives
  • Wind Turbine Main Shaft Speed Increasers
  • Construction Machinery: Including gear motors and reducers

FLT’s gearbox bearing solutions are engineered to meet the toughest conditions—ensuring long-term durability, precision, and high operational efficiency.
