FDL

FLT’s automotive powder metallurgy products adopt advanced metal forming technology, combining materials science and precision engineering, to provide core components with high strength, lightweight and complex structures for automotive transmission systems. Our products, with their outstanding dimensional accuracy and performance stability, meet the functional requirements under harsh working conditions, especially suitable for key transmission modules such as electronic differential lock couplings.

Types

FLT can provide a variety of specifications of powder metallurgy products, including but not limited to:

  • Electronic differential lock connector: this product is specially designed for modern vehicle differential systems and is a core component for achieving intelligent power distribution and traction control. Manufactured through powder metallurgy technology, it can achieve complex geometric shapes and functional integration while ensuring high strength.

It adopts a multi-tooth meshing structure and interfaces with electromagnetic actuators, achieving a millisecond-level locking response (≤50ms) through an electronic control unit (ECU). The main body of the binder is manufactured by metal injection molding (MIM) process from iron-based alloy powder (Fe-Cu-Mo). The tooth surface accuracy reaches ISO 1328-1 standard grade 6, and the shear strength is ≥800MPa, which is suitable for the instantaneous torque requirements of four-wheel drive vehicles and off-road scenarios.

FLT supports customized design to adapt to the differential assembly size, electromagnetic coil parameters and torque capacity requirements (range: 1000-5000Nm) of different vehicle models.

Details

FLT powder metallurgy products have achieved a dual breakthrough in material performance and manufacturing efficiency through precise production processes and strict quality control.

Materials and Processes

  • Base material: high-purity iron-based alloy powder is adopted, with copper and molybdenum added to enhance wear resistance and fatigue resistance.
  • Forming technology: High-temperature sintering (1120-1250) process is adopted, with a density of ≥7.2g/cm³ and a porosity of ≤0.3%.
  • Post-treatment: After special heat treatment, the friction coefficient is ≤0.1, and the temperature resistance performance reaches 300.

Manufacturing standard:

  • Passed ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 functional safety certifications. All products have undergone:
  • Dynamic torque test (cyclic loading ≥10^6 times, no tooth surface spalling)
  • Electromagnetic compatibility verification (ensuring the stability of actuating signals in a strong interference environment)
  • High and low temperature durability test (-40℃ to 150℃, 2000 cycles without performance attenuation)
  • Salt spray corrosion test (no rust for 720 hours, in compliance with ISO 9227 standard)

Performance advantage:

  • High locking efficiency: the meshing response time of the coupling is ≤50ms, and the torque transmission efficiency is ≥98%.
  • Impact resistance: it can withstand an instantaneous overload of 150% of the peak torque and is suitable for off-road and snow conditions.
  • Lightweight design: reduce weight by 25% compared to traditional casting schemes and lower unsprung mass.

Features

  • Complex structure integrated forming: supports direct forming of multi-tooth meshing grooves and electromagnetic coil installation holes, reducing machining processes.

  • Environmental compatibility: the production process is free from smelting pollution, with a material recovery rate of ≥95%, and complies with RoHS and REACH standards.

  • Long-life design: the depth of the carburized layer is ≥0.3mm, and the service life is ≥ 200,000 locking cycles.

Applications

FLT powder metallurgy electronic differential lock couplings are widely used in:

  • Intelligent four-wheel drive systems and torque vectoring distribution modules for four-wheel drive passenger vehicles: SUVs and pickup trucks.
  • New energy vehicle models: electronic control differentials for pure electric and hybrid models, enhancing low-adhesion road passability.
  • Commercial vehicles: enhanced differential locking schemes for heavy trucks and engineering vehicles.
  • Special vehicles: high-reliability transmission systems for military off-road vehicles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).
  • Modification market: offering high-torque capacity (≥5000Nm) and fast-response customized versions.

Choosing FLT powder metallurgy products means choosing to empower intelligent transmission systems with innovative processes and reliable quality, providing vehicles with more precise and efficient power control experiences in complex road conditions.
